I've seen lots of requests for map-like data on xpert recently. We ftp'd some stuff a while ago called Xmap I believe.... It is only a demo version apparently, but it seemed to work pretty neat. Lets see if I can pull up the info... Experimental Computing Facility (XCF) XMAP Project -- Prototype Release 0.1 The Prototype Release 0.1 of the XCF XMAP Project is binary only. (A source release of XMAP 1.0 is scheduled for late Feburary 1990.) First, you will need to grab the data from the data directory, you can do this by grabbing data.tar from this directory or by getting the individual databases for your area. Each database is actually three files; for example, the San Fransico-Oakland database in contained in the following three files in the data directory: sf_oak sf_oak.index sf_oak.stnames Secondly, you should probably get the man page called "xmap.l" in the current directory. Lastly, you will need to get the appropreate binary in the "bin" directory. Here's a list of what is currently available: Binary Name UNIX OS Compiled Under (from kernel identifier) ----------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- apollo/domainos.10.1 DomainOS Release 10.1 (bsd4.3) Apollo DN3500 pmax/ultrix.ws.2.1 Ultrix Worksystem V2.1 (Rev. 14) sequent.symmetry/dynix.3.0.12 DYNIX(R) V3.0.12 NFS sun3/sunos.3.3 Sun UNIX 4.2 Release 3.3 sun3/sunos.4.0.3c SunOS Release 4.0.3c sun3/sunos.4.0.3c.static SunOS Release 4.0.3c sun4/sunos.4.0.3c SunOS Release 4.0.3c sun4/sunos.4.0.3c.static SunOS Release 4.0.3c vax/ultrix.3.1 Ultrix-32 V3.1 (Rev. 9) Soon to be made: vax/bsd.4.3 4.3 BSD UNIX I ftp'd this stuff from scam.berkeley.edu. I am not associated with these people in any way, and I can't even guarantee that the stuff is still there. Hope this helps.
