[comp.windows.x] vtwm bugs

gwaters@bwdls35.bnr.ca (Glenn Waters) (11/27/90)

The following list are a list of features would be nice to have in vtwm and a list of bugs/deficiencies that I have notices:

1. It would be nice to start with the virtual desktop iconified. I seldom use it, I prefer to move around using function keys and the like.

2. When in the title bar of the virtual desktop I have a button mapped to f.move. This button is grabbed by the virtual desktop not by the title bar. My f.move never gets a chance!

3. When I iconify a virtual desktop and then try (try is the operative word) to de-iconify it again through the icon manager, I can't. The de-iconify is grabbed by the virtual desktop and is treated like a virtual desktop move.

4. Using DeiconifyToScreen does not work in the following scenerio: I iconify a window using the icon manager that is NOT visible on the current real desktop. I then de-iconify the window, again using the icon manager. The window is put back to the location that it was iconified at -- not on the current screen.

5. When looking for a window on the virtual desktop it is hard to read the small font. I know it can be changed, but how about a f.windowname function that would popup the name of the window when a button is pressed and pop it down again when the button is released. This would be similar to f.idenify, but would not stay up and wait for a click.

The doors feature is great. Gotta love it! Keep up the great work!
