[comp.windows.x] Portable software

etxjnor@solsta.ericsson.se (Jan Norden TX/DK) (11/27/90)

I don't read this group often, so please excuse if this is a FAQ.

As far as I can tell there are now two main direcions in X interfaces,
OPENLOOK and motif.

I wouldlike to be able to write software that will fit comfortably
into both environments, naturaly at the expense of some features. The
way I would like to do it is to define my own layer, that users only
abstract features available in both environments, and have libraries
(or preprocessors if need be) adapt the software to the two environments.

I'M sure someone has done, or is doing this, or are the environments
just too different.
lease reply via email, I'll summaraize any responses.

Sincerely,

Jan Norden
