[comp.windows.x] a word about x3270

jsparkes@bwdls49.bnr.ca (Jeff Sparkes) (12/10/90)

I had promised a release of x3270 by the first week of December. In
case you were wondering where it is, here's the story...

The last couple of months development on x3270 was based not on my
X port of the sunview 3270tool version, but on Robert Vidyua's (superior)
widget based port of his own program. I was just adding features and fixing
a few bugs; some of the fixes came from people out on the net.
Despite the copyright messages in the code, Robert has not yet
obtained permission to distribute his code from Georgia Tech, his employers.
So, while he's in the process of doing that, I can't release my work either.
In the meantime, he's going to merge my stuff into his version, so we can
come out with one unified version.

Sorry about that. I may go back and put some bug fixes into my
original version though and distribute that, especially since the legal
process may take some time.
