Is there a library which supports the maintenance of image libraries by applications? I'm imagining saving, say, a whole list of XPM files appropriately indexed and stored in a single file, and being able to load, save, update, etc. the collection, while giving an application access functions to get specific pixmaps out of the collection for its own use. It would be nice to invoke a drawing editor on a specific file, update the whole thing, and so on. It doesn't seem to be the most colossally difficult thing in the world to implement, and I may do it as part of another project, but there's no point in wasting the effort if someone has already done this. While I'm on the subject, incidentally, are there any decent color pixmap editors? I'm thinking of something along the lines of bitmap or iconedit, not a drawing program like xfig. It's about time for someone to write the XPM version of iconedit if it hasn't already been done.... Laurence R.
