I have two Sparc stations running Sun OS 4.0.3 with X11R4 binaries (afs mounted from ir.stanford.edu, arch type sun4_40). One of my Sparcs has a cgsix graphics board and X runs normally on it. However the other Sparc(Sun4/330GPX) has a cgnine graphics board with gp co-processors and when I attempt to run X on it the screen does nothing. The processes list shows xinit to be started along with all the jobs in my .xsession etc.. but there is no indication of that on the screen -- the root window doen't even show up. Addtionally, after killing all the X jobs the gpconfig of machine is messed up and I have to rerun gpconfig. The man pages for Xsun mention something about this but are not clear on how to make it work. Does anyone know if there is a way to make X work on a machine with this kind of hardware?
