I have been trying to get the open look window manager (available in source as part of the xview source ..ftpable from uunet.uu.net) working on an HP 9000/360 workstation running HPUX7.0 ..but with the REAL MIT X11R4. Basically you can convince olwm to work on the hp, (though clearly intended to work primarily on Sun machines) BUT for one large problem... as soon as you try to define your own menu via a .openwin-menu file in your home directory, starting up olwm causes it to core dump... Has ANYONE tried this before and got a fix for it? Presumably the code that parses and constructs the structure in memory for user defined menus is not watertight....and is screwing things up badly...hence the core dump... I've tried tracing the thing with a debugger, but it's got an infuriating habit of hanging the whole machine when I try that. Any ideas/help greatly appreciated.
