We need a spreadsheet that can be loaded programmatically from a database, browse-able and database update-able. Publication quality report writing (ie, tbl/troff/tex) is also necessary. An XView spreadsheet object would be perfect for our needs, but an OLIT widget would suffice. Before we go and start implementing such a beast, has anyone out in netland already built one? Or does anyone have any pointers to a commercial one? Thanks all, Frank G.

Try using the table/spreadsheet pair of classes in Andrew TK. "Table" implements the guts of a spreadsheet, and "spreadsheet" is one possible interface-to/editor-on the table. Generates troff (actually tbl) for output. Has a nice API. A storage format is defined, but only for files (though it's not clear what you mean by a database; does a directory qualify?).
