[comp.windows.x] How to convert TIFF to GIF ?

I write this article for a person who doesn't have access to Usenet.

Is there a fast and secure way to convert a TIFF file, produced by
a HP Scanjet (using Art Galery (sp?)) to a GIF file ?  The setup
is as follows:

The scanner is attached to a PC.  It produces a good TIFF image.
The TIFF image gets ftp'ed to a Sun 4/65 in binary format.

The GIF has to be shown in an INGRES/Windows4GL program.

PBMPLUS is installed on the Sun, but how should be proceeded ?
