Well ... I did that part of the port. There is a problem, with early releases of the server that makes using TCP/IP connections impossible. I posted a simple fix from my university account, which obviously never made it into the world. :-( Here is that interim patch again: *** mit/server/Imakefile.dist Sat Nov 17 13:20:52 1990 --- mit/server/Imakefile Mon Jan 14 02:20:09 1991 *************** *** 419,425 **** X386DIRS = dix ddx/snf ddx/mi ddx/mfb ddx/at386 os/4.2bsd os/bsdemul X386LIBS = $(DIX) $(BSD) ddx/at386/libat386.a $(SNF) ddx/at386/vga/libvga.a \ ddx/at386/tfb/libtfb.a $(MFB) $(MI) ddx/at386/vga/libvga.a \ ! $(EXTENSIONS) $(BSDEMUL) #endif X386OBJS = ddx/at386/init.o $(FONTUTIL) --- 419,425 ---- X386DIRS = dix ddx/snf ddx/mi ddx/mfb ddx/at386 os/4.2bsd os/bsdemul X386LIBS = $(DIX) $(BSD) ddx/at386/libat386.a $(SNF) ddx/at386/vga/libvga.a \ ddx/at386/tfb/libtfb.a $(MFB) $(MI) ddx/at386/vga/libvga.a \ ! $(EXTENSIONS) /usr/lib/libinet.a $(BSDEMUL) #endif X386OBJS = ddx/at386/init.o $(FONTUTIL) -- Arne Ludwig arne@rrzbu.hanse.de ...uunet!??????!rrzbu!arne

In fact, when the server is terminated (using >ALT+CTRL+BS), it doesn't go away cleanly ("netstat -a" shows that the server >hangs around in the CLOSED state): > $ netstat -a # After killing the server > Active Internet connections (including servers) > Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address (state) > tcp 0 0 chansw.1140 chansw.Xserver CLOSED > tcp 0 0 *.smtp *.* LISTEN > ... > tcp 0 0 *.* *.* CLOSED > ... >The clients all work properly on an X terminal configured on the same network. >I am running ISC 2.2.1. It bites telnets, it bites here. Does anyone know if a fix is available yet? Something like SSU 1.4A (?) was called a TCP/IP fix. Is this the one ? Tim -- Tim Wright, Dell Computer Corp.
