From: Jim Hofmann <hofmann@AMSAA.ARPA> Some friends of mine just got back from a canoeing experience through the Borderwaters of Minnesota through South and North Dakota. They asked me if I had ever heard of The Suburbs as they had seen mucho graffiti while driving through Bismarck, ND for these guys as well as Husker Du ( I had heard of Husker and lent them my Zen ARcade and New Day Rising). Does anyone have any info on the Suburbs - my shoddy memory seems to type-classify them as punk-turned-wave-turned-thrash. HUH? -Jim (The Mouth is back from the South) Hofmann

They realeased two albums on Twin/Tone (In Combo -1981, Credit in Heaven - 1982) and an EP (Dream Hog) from which they had a couple of dance hits (Waiting and Music for Boys) .. the EP got them signed to POLYDOR where they proceeded to die an inconspicous death .. one nationally released album (Love is the Law .. single of the same name). Curently they are working in the studio with REO Speedwagon's producer (god is that disheartening ...) anyway - I don't have much hope of their ever regaining the form they had 2-3 years ago ... ah well -- I'll just hafta put on Zen Arcade again .... rob graber ..!ihnp4!umn-cs!srcsip!graber [ .. I'll like cows .... they go moo when they eat ....]

I thought everybody on the net knew that North Dakota doesn't exist. :-) Jeff Winslow "Why do you hate the Socratic method?"
