Hello net, I have got a Sun 160 with only 4 MB of memory with a single 70 MB disk with 20 MB of swap. It is running SunOS 4.0.3. I have also got MIT X11R4 which is installed on a fileserver but has all the appropriate /usr/bin/X11, /usr/lib/X11 and /usr/include/X11 symbolic links set up. I have installed X on numerous other Suns ok but they do have 8MB of memory and over 25MB of swap. They run either SunOS 4.0.3 or SunOS 4.1. Well on the Sun I first described I am getting strange problems with the keyboard and mouse. I can start X up ok with the "xinit" command and I get a xterm started. The keyboard and mouse are working fine at this point. Now when I start a window manager (mwm) I get strange things happening. The menus I have set up on the root window do not appear. If I press the space key in the xterm the motif window menu appears. The xterm scroll bars which worked before the window manager was started now will not respond. The middle mouse button when pressed in the xterm causes the window to move and the right mouse button causes the window to resize. None of these thing are what I define should happen in my .mwmrc. If I try to use the twm window manager again I get odd things happening. On all the other suns I have the exact same setup as I have on the sun I have problems on and I don't get any problems on them. Is this a symptom of lack of memory or swap? Any pointers on how to find out why the mouse and keyboard are playing up would be most helpful. Thanks in advance. John Farley john@uk.co.gmsws
