[comp.windows.x] Problems with Framebuffers on Sun3 and Sun4

xw@infko.UUCP (Randolf Werner (X11 Admin)) (01/25/91)

I want to use 2 Framebuffers on Sun3/60, Sun3/80 and Sun 4/150 with a colour
display. The documentation of the MIT Xsun server points out, that the server
automatically supports a colour and a monochrom screen when using the cgfour0
framebuffer. When moving the mouse-pointer over the edge of the colour screen,
the server should switch to the monochrom screen. However the monochrom screen,
which should be Screen 2, isn't available on my Suns, even if I use the "-dev"
option forcing the server to use cgfour0.
On Sun3/60 and Sun3/80 the following framebuffers are generated:

	-bwtwo0
	-bwtwo1
	-cgfour0
	-fb

Framebuffers on Sun4/150 are:

	-cgfour0
	-fb
	-cgone0
	-cgtwo0
	-gp2

When using Sun's xnews Server the recommend option "-dev /dev/cgfour0 -dev
/dev/bwtwo0" also doesn't work, but using bwtwo1 instead of bwtwo0 makes
both screens available.
I am running X11 Release 4 under SunOS 4.0.3.

Is there something wrong with the Workstations ?
Must I add or delete some framebuffers ?
Have I made a mystake when compiling the Xsun server ?

Thanks in advance for any help.
