[comp.windows.x] Are patch files needed for latest version of X?

Dudes,
	There is a patch directory on the various distribution machines
that has patches for X. Do you need to install these patches on the
X that comes on those machines in compressed tar format? We tried to
install the patches with devistating effect to the source files.

Any takers on this one??

Yes, the patches should be applied to this source, assuming the
packaged source you got is the same as what is currently available
from MIT.  And the only effects on the source files should be removing
bugs :-)
