[ I realize that this is a somewhat unconventional posting, but I get so many
requests for information that this post should help people keep track of my
tools. ]
Last update: 30 January 1991
I currently have several tools which have been released for private use.
These tools are in various stages of development and enhancement, and I hope
this posting will clarify for many users the status of the tools in which
they are interested.
Tool Version Window System Status Description
Boss 1.0b X Active Interface Casio BOSS
to workstation
Catcher 1.0a X Active Catch and process drag
and drop files
Contool 3.0c X Active Catch and filter console
messages
Tooltool 3.0 X In progress Build windowed tools from
a script
Tooltool 2.1d SunView Supported Build windowed tools from
a script
Calctool 1.0 SunView Unsupported Desktop calculator
Contool 2.2 SunView Unsupported Catch and filter console
messages
Lpqtool 1.0 SunView Unsupported Display print queue
Version numbers are of the form M.mp, where M is a major release number,
m is a minor release number, and p is a patch level, beginning with "a" for
the first patch to release.
I am no longer developing or enhancing tools for SunView.
Active tools are being supported and will have periodic bug fixes and
patches. I actively entertain requests for features and fixes in my active
tools. Unsupported tools have been superceded by other tools. Calctool
can be replaced in the X world by xcalc or Sun's calctool. Contool 2.2
has been superceded by Contool 3.0c for X users. Lpqtool has been replaced
by Sun's printtool. Tooltool 2.1d will not have any more bug fixes or
enhancements, but I appreciate feedback regarding needed features and bugs.
This information will be used to build Tooltool 3.0, which will run under X.
All X tools have been posted to comp.sources.x, comp.sources.sun, and
sun-spots. Sources should be available via FTP from trantor.harris-atd.com,
uunet.uu.net, and titan.rice.edu. Sources are available via archive server
from uunet.uu.net (netlib@uunet.uu.net) and rice.edu (archive-server@rice.edu).
I thank you for indulging me in this post, and I hope that users of my
tools find the information useful.
