I have had trouble getting an application built for X11R3 and R4 using Xlib directly to run properly under open windows. The problem is that certain application communication with the window manager does not seem to be getting through, and I have traced it to things that are set with calls to XSetWMHints. It appears that SetWMHints is not doing anything under openwin. After a lot of staring at protocol traces for Xterm, I determined that at least one of the non-working functions (iconifying the window) could be accomplished by directly setting a property value. I haven't figured out how to do all of the things that don't work. The documentation that comes with open windows and the include files suggest that SetWMHints should work as with other X implementations. Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions?
