I've seen references to Xtex now and then over the last few weeks, but I've never heard of it. I use both TeX and X, so it might be of interest. Could someone send me some information? Thanks! Andrew Eichstaedt

I have been having problems with xtex 2.15 under SunOS 4.1. I compiled it with cc on a Sparc. Attempting to get a "Large" view of the display results in a bus error or segmentation violation (it changes), and quitting (from the page display) without looking at other pages also causes the same errors. This all worked just fine under SunOS 4.0.3. i have X patches 1-14 installed. Does anyone else have similar problems or know what to do about it? v. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Vick Khera Graduate Student Department of Computer Science ARPA: khera@cs.duke.edu Duke University UUCP: ..!{mcnc,decvax}!duke!khera Durham, NC 27706 (919) 660-6528

Both are compiled with cc and work fine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ken Hughes (hughes@sol.csee.usf.edu) | "If you were happy every day of your FT-Ph D student, PT-ex-sysadm | your life you wouldn't be a human Dept of Comp Sci and Eng | being, you'd be a game show host." aha - now I remember. Some version of xtex 2.15.x didn't work because of a Dumb Mistake on my part. It was fixed in a later version. Certainly grabbing 2.16.x from foobar.colorado.edu:pub/SeeTeX would be a good idea. If you still have problems, send mail. I am interested in talking to people who are using xtex; I am experimenting with various fonts and would like to compare notes. In particular, I am having trouble getting xtex and metafont to cooperate on 12 point fonts, and I could use some expert help. Please reply to jeremy@math.uic.edu.
