[comp.windows.x] Has anyone ported xgks to system V, specifically UNICOS on a Cray?

clk@splash.Princeton.EDU (Christopher Kranz) (02/13/91)

Has anyone got xgks running on a Cray under UNICOS? How about any
System V derived OS that uses signal(2) instead of sigvec(2)? I
believe the key routine I need to port (judging by the error messages
from make) is lib/xgks/event.c.

So far I've gotten it built on a Sun 3/50 running SunOS 4.0.3, and
mostly working on a Cray YMP running UNICOS 5.1. I plan to build it on
our Sun SPARCstations and on our SGI 4D/25s. The main reason for
getting all this working is that our main application, NCAR Graphics
3.0, is GKS based. One of the biggest problems that we have had to
date is that on every platform we get we get another vendor's GKS.
Code development and maintenance is getting out of hand.

Also, (I know I'm getting greedy) has anyone written a postscript
driver for xgks? If not, do you have any feeling on how tough that
would be to add?

Any information that you could pass my way would be greatly
appreciated.

I'm looking for this also. I don't know that I would call it a ps
driver for xgks, I say more of an independant psgks package.
