[comp.windows.x] How do you send a WM_SAVE_YOURSELF message to a window?

I am trying to send a WM_SAVE_YOURSELF atom to a window by sending a 
ClientMessage using XSendEvent().  I am obviously doing it wrong since the
window doesn't save it's current state into WM_COMMAND.  I would appreciate
it if somebody could give me an example on how to fill out the ClientMessage
structure correctly or tell me if there is a better function to use than
XSendEvent().  Thanx in advance.
