[comp.windows.x] Video to windows

russellp@CAE.WISC.EDU (02/18/91)

Hello all.

I'd like some help for a project class I'm taking. I want to do something
with direct video, but I don't know anything about using it.

What I'd like to do is be able to put a video image, realtime if possible,
into a window, or on a monitor screen, or into a bitmap/pixmap.

I have access to Xwindows, Xterm, and Motif if that helps. I believe the
monitors are RGB. There is also an RS-232 port and an HPIB port, or I
can access A/Ds if need be.

Does anyone know of any hardware to do these conversions? I need to go
from an RF signal (or possibly a direct off-chip video) to the monitor.

Are there any neat conversion routines I should know about?

Is this even possible? Any other advice or details would be greatly
appreciated, so please email me what you know.
