Greetings-- I'm trying to determine why I'm only getting 2-dimensional looking widgets when using the OLIT toolkit supplied with OPENWINDOWS Version 2. Did our sysadmin people miss something in the installation? Is there some X resource that I'm not setting properly? Is there a separate 3D OLIT toolkit? I'm sure there is a simple answer to my problem and I would appreciate any help that anyone on the net can provide. -- Mike Langager UUCP: uunet!trwacs!langager TRW Systems Division Internet: langager@trwacs.fp.trw.com Fairfax Virginia Voice: +1 703/968-1846

Mike, The OLIT with OpenWindow 2.0 is of version 2, which isn't implemented with 3D and mouseless features. You can check with Sun to see when the OLIT 4.0 will be available. As I understood, Sun received the source code of OLIT 4.0 last October from AT&T/USL. I believe they are working on it. From the command line, "olwm -3d" uses the 3D look on colour systems. Also, you may want to check the settings for 2 boolean resources viz. Version 2.5 does, but I'm not sure if it is generally available yet. If you have 2.5, set the *threeD resource to TRUE, and use a background color that is close to neither black nor white. Try Gray initially. > A couple of things worth investigating are the options that you've set > for OLWM.
