[comp.windows.x] Of Mice And Men

gibson@hplabsz.hpl.hp.com (Bill Gibson) (03/01/91)

I use a window system designed before bitmapped displays were
actually available. My windows are described in terms of their
vertices and cursor movements, each of which is mailed to me
on a punched card. I often go down to the Postal Dispatch Office
to hand the next horseman a ButtonDown request and a canteen of
water for his trip.

After another month of this interaction, I expect to complete
the first move against my computer
in our play-by-mail chess game.
