[comp.windows.x] cgfour and Bad Match problem.... HELP!

I'm using MIT X11R4 and also OpenWindows 2.0 on a Sun 4/110 (SunOS 4.0.3).

If I try to use any of a number of X programs including xgc, xselfont
xclipboard and lots of others, I get the following error message:

    $ xclipboard &
    X Error:  BadMatch
      Request Major code 93 ()
      Request Minor code 0
      ResourceID 0xe00003
      Error Serial #13
      Current Serial #15

or
    $ xgc &
    X Error:  BadMatch
      Request Major code 93 ()
      Request Minor code 0
      ResourceID 0xe00006
      Error Serial #16
      Current Serial #18

Now, Major Code 93 is

/usr/include/X11/Xproto.h:#define X_CreateCursor                 93


xterm is OK, and so are a lot of other programs...

Any ideas?  Does anyone have a fix?
