xman causes the server to shut down on our sun3 and sun4. We are running xman remote on a sun4 computer where we have all the manpages. This client causes the server to go down in this case: We have a lot of manpages for user subroutines. Some of the names are so long that the directory listing normally is one long column. When scrolling down this long directory list we reach a routine with name "puwk", and then the system hangs. The server is dumped and after a while the user is logged out. The error is independent of how we scroll (by clicking or dragging). If we make the manpage window wider, so that we have two columns, everything works fine. The number of files is 7479 for user subroutines (3). Has somebody else experienced this? Is this a known bug (with a fix?)? -- Regards, Ingar Solberg Division of Engineering Cybernetics : Phone +47 7 594368 The Norwegian Institute of Technology : Fax +47 7 594399 N-7034 Trondheim : Email solberg@itk.unit.no NORWAY
