[comp.windows.x] How should I name a X11 bitmap file?

william@oahu.cs.ucla.edu (William Cheng) (03/05/91)

Is there a standard way of naming X11 bitmap files?
Should I call it file.bm, file.xbm, or something else?

not officially.

.xbm seems to be the de facto standard.

Bill,

the current conventions SEEM TO BE:

.xbm for bitmap files
.xbc for cursor files (also bitmaps)
.xbcm for cursor mask files (also bitmaps)

i didn't make these up, but they seem to make sense to me and seem to be in
use by many others (that's how i noticed them in the first place...)

hope this helps!
regards,
dlb
