For a class I am going to teach I would like students to get a good feeling for the time-dependence of some p.d.e. So I am looking for a public domain graphics software which allows to do simple animation: draw lines, erase them and redraw them slightly changed. On my own machine I use PHIGS double buffering for that, but I have to implement it on another machine which runs X-windows. Can anybody point me to a solution which is better than redrawing the figure in gnuplot which gives a very flickery `movie'? Thank you Hermann Riecke HERMANN@CHILLY.ESAM.NWU.EDU Appl. Math.
