Hello, I hope that I am sending this to the right news group this time! I have been using an AT&T 6386E running UNIX SYSV for 386 and XWIN release 2.0 (we can't afford the upgrade to anything else according to the finanace dept.). This system has been working quite well until now. We have started to use a Geographic Information System called GRASS3.0 developed by the Corp of Engineers. We have been given an XDRIVER for our X-Win system. Unfortunately, we cannot use the XDRIVER because our version of X or the Window Manager sets our VGA screens in a STATIC DISPLAY mode and only allows us to access 16 predefined colors. My question is: Is there any way around this static display system? Do I just need a different window manager? Do I need to port X to my system myself? (Note: the VGA card is a VDC600 card and is capable of the 256 colors at 640x400 resolution. This is adequate for our purposes right now.). Any Help will be appreciated.
