[comp.windows.x] Color Selection Tool

foonberg@Aero.org (Alan Foonberg) (03/06/91)

Does anybody have a tool which will read colors out of the rgb.txt file,
display them in a fashion similar to xshowcmap, and allow the user to click on
a color and get the text name of the color clicked on? I understand that the
rgb.txt file has more colors than will fit in the color map, so this utility
would probably display a given number of colors at once, and allow the user to
advance to the next group of colors.

You want xcolors, on the R4 tape in contrib/clients/xcolors/

You could also buy a big box of Crayola crayons, which is the
origin (by way of an ancient DEC VT240 terminal programming manual)
of many of the more obscure colors in rgb.txt.
