[comp.windows.x] XDM configuration

jon@trident1.austin.ibm.com (Jon H. Werner;6a-027) (03/08/91)

How do you set up the Xservers config file to fire off X servers on
remote workstations and x-terminals? Also, what differences are there
between x-terminals with local servers and those without, with regards to xdm?
Thanking you in advance,

jon

You don't. xdm generally can't start servers on other machines. (It
could probably be kludged to do so when some sort of remote command
execution is available.) Instead, you would tell the remote server
where it should go asking for xdm service. Our X-terminal -3/50s run
their servers with -query <xdm-host>, which make them use that host's
xdm daemon.

How can an X-terminal not have a local server?
