[comp.windows.x] Screendump to HP paintjet - request

trygg@nososl.UUCP (Trygg A. Eliassen) (03/14/91)

We are going to invest in workstations and X-terminals ( colour ), and
we already have a number of HP paintjets. I wondered if anyone knew of
public domain programs that can print an X screendump on a paintjet,
something like xpr, I would thimnk, but for the paintjet.

There is a product called EasyCopy that claims that they support all
colour printers available. This product is made by autoGraph international
San Jose. I would like comments on this product also.

Tectronix have something called S-print, but this supports only their own
printers, I was told.

PBMPLUS produces colour postscript which might be useful, where do I get
this ?

Thanks

X11R4 xpr supports the HP Paintjet already, so you may have nothing to
worry about. If you have other printers to worry about though then
xpr on the Amiga, although it is part of a commercial package, might
be worth serious consideration since it supports a very large variety
of printers already.

xpr on the Amiga supports the HP paintjet in two different ways.
The standard -device pjet which uses a driver written by HP.
and via -device amiga which uses a driver written by Commodore-Amiga.
IMHBO the output using -device amiga is better than -device pjet.
