[comp.windows.x] xterm menus non-functional?

doug@genmri.UUCP (Doug Becker) (03/15/91)

Right now the menus pop up with
the current enabled options checkmarked, but when you run the cursor down
the menu you can't highlight and select/deselect anything.

It sounds like the server thinks a modifier key (Shift, Meta, etc.) is
down. Try using xev to see if this is really the case.

I saw this problem when I switched from R3 to R4. In R3, you could
activate xterm menus by using either control-button1 or
control-shift-button1, and it would do the appropriate thing. In R4,
if you do control-button1, xterm highlights and selects the items as
appropriate, but if you do control-shfit-button1, it just brings up
the menu and does not do anything else.

Considering the flames and intolerance, shouldn't USENET be spelled ABUSENET?
