The remaining three are all BTL sites in NJ. Anyone from HOCC or WHCC care to comment? I'm fairly sure that houxm is clean, but don't actually know. -- Jonathan Clark [NAC]!mtung!jhc My walk has become rather more silly lately.

Are you sure akgua is clean? whuxl and whuxlm are both running version "2.10.2 9/18/84 exptools". akgua is running "2.10.1 6/24/83". The line eater bug was introduced in 2.10.1. I can't find an article on my spool from houxm; I also don't seem to have a "Known Versions in Use" posting currently (I expire too fast). Seems to me the guilty party is running 2.10.1 (unless the bug is in some 2.10.2 versions as well and I don't think so). Any comments, akgua? I apologize in advance if I'm wrong. -- Joe Buck | Entropic Processing, Inc. UUCP: {ucbvax,ihnp4}!dual!epicen!jbuck | 10011 N. houxm is running 2.10 5/3/83 based. That used to be my machine -- I know of no munched articles by my machine. No flames about why it isn't running a newer news -- if anything, they'll run 2.10.2 exptools 9/18/84. -- It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I keep from goin' under. Joe Buck (jbuck@epicen) asks the musical question: >Are you sure akgua is clean? ... akgua is running "2.10.1 6/24/83". >The line eater bug was introduced in 2.10.1. > ... >Any comments, akgua? I apologize in advance if I'm wrong. May all the "sites out there" sleep well tonight! "Akgua" installed the line-eater bug fix when the source code first arrived at this site in Sept. of 1983 (we were running "A" news before that). In the intervening two years we have conscientiously checked our spool area whenever a "line-eater" report appeared, and not once did the fault appear to originate at this site. So rather than add to the traffic on the net each time by bragging how "pure" we were, I merely would reply directly to the originator of the message. Besides, when you constantly brag about how good you are, *lots* more folks start keeping a sharp eye on all that you do in an attempt to "catch" you. This way, I just let the "akgua" reputation filter its way around the net by the quiet, competent, and serene manner in which it conducts itself. This can be seen by the comment of the original poster: > From: jhc@mtung.UUCP (Jonathan Clark) > ... (I think we can exclude Mr. Spafford's and Mr > Cleveland's sites from suspicion). So I shall assume that Mr. Joe Buck is relatively new to the net and wasn't aware of this site's *sterling* reputation. Since he apologized in advance, he is obviously a person of good character and intelligence. He should have a bright future on the net.
