[comp.windows.x] How to view GIF file on SPARC station?

I have seen people post GIF files in this and other groups and
wonder how/if one can view them on a color/monochrome sparc station.
I have found a prtgif program but it uses a special text version of
gif (I think specific to Suns).  Could anybody help me out?
