[comp.windows.x] SunOS 4.1.1 and X windows

jaisimha@milton.u.washington.edu (M. Y. Jaisimha) (04/12/91)

A few days back I posted a question about a problem I had with starting up
an X server on a newly installed Sparc 2. The answer to the problem was a
bug with the Xsun server. Apparenlty, Xsun tries to write to the first
valid frame buffer device in the /dev directory. The only way to get it
to work is to remove all but the valid cg* device from the /dev directory.
This is a documented bug in Xsun !! So I guess I should've just RTFMed.
Thanks to all those people who responded.
