We are experiencing problems with the R4 xdm compiled on Sparcstation running SunOS 4.1.1. We have some NCD 17c X terminals attached, and sometimes get the following problems: 1. The terminal sometimes does not manage to load the fonts that have been configured into xdm, even though we know for sure that they are there (because normally, they DO work). 2. More seriously, it has been observed that xdm seems to decide its time to restart a login sequence on a terminal when the user is mid way through a session. When this happens, you might get 'Password:' appearing out of the blue in a window, and your keyboard mappings seem to get messed up (at least when you're running emacs in an xterm). Then, after about a minute you get 'Login timed out after 60 seconds' in the window, and then things seem to get back to normal. Any ideas anyone ? All help gratefully received. Many thanks in advance. -- - Colin Manning, cm%jet.uucp@ukc.ac.uk (world) OR cm@jet.uucp (UK only) ------------------------------ Disclaimer: Please note that the above is a personal view and should not be construed as an official comment from the JET project.
