[comp.windows.x] Will XPM Be Part of Release 5?

dgreen@hilo.cs.ucla.edu (Dan R. Greening) (04/23/91)

If XPM isn't planned to be part of release 5, I'd like to lobby for it.
As far as I know there isn't a portable pixmap scheme other than xpm, and
it would be useful to have one.

Is XPM a part of release 5? Is there anything I can do to encourage it
to be there?

This is too late for R5. To be part of X, XPM needs to be stable and to be
delivered with a full package including stuff like string converter. We are
working on this and we will lobby to have XPM part of R6.

If you want to help, you can subscribe to the XPM mailing list by sending
request to xpm-talk-request@mirsa.inria.fr for discussing and/or contributing
XPM stuff.
