[comp.windows.x] drawing on windows not created by your processes

How can I draw on a window created by anothe processes?

I am trying to have one progam fork/exec another progam
and have the child process draw on one of the parents windows.

I tried to sending the "Window" to it using a pipe. It got the
value but would not draw using it.
