[comp.windows.x] xmh bug -- more

vania@osf.ORG (Vania Joloboff) (05/03/91)

I sent previously the following

I am running what I think is the the latest and greatest xmh R4 version,
compiled with gcc on a DEC 3100 using ULTRIX 4.1

Regularly, I observe the following, but I can't reproduce it systematically,
so I can't really send a bug report to xbugs...

When I reply to a mail and I insert the replied mail, using the xmh insert command,
then if I use button3 to select some text from the current cursor
position (without any
previous button action) xmh goes into an infinite loop, and the only
way out is to kill
the process.

Has anybody observed the same behavior ?

===========

Now I have more data. This actually occurs when I want to delete the selected
text with CONTROL-W and I hit the buttons and keys very quickly.

When I try slowly the combinations:

Button3Press Button3Release ControlPress W-Press
Button3Press ControlPress Button3Release W-Press
ControlPress Button3Press Button3Release W-Press

it does not loop and it even works in all cases.

It is only when I do one of this combination fast that it goes
into an infinite loop. This is however very ennoying because when
you insert the message you immediately want to delete the useless header
lines. I am too lazy to write an awk script to remove them.
