[comp.windows.x] Input Synthesis Extension

harel%wisdom.weizmann.ac.il@MITVMA.MIT.EDU (David Harel) (11/06/90)

Hi,

I've been trying to run the regression testing tools from the X Test
Suite from MIT (the Xclientxr.2.0 set - xtmconvert, xtmexecute &
xtmrecord).

These tools require an X server which supports the Input Synthesis
extension. Now, apparently, MIT's sample servers support the extension
(at least optionally, there is an XINPUT flag in the server code...)

To make a long story short, there is some device dependent code that
needs to be written for a server to compile correctly with the
extension. There are hints in mit/extensions/server and in the
documentation on how to write the code.

Has anybody written such code for any Sun or Digital servers? Would
such a person be willing to make said code available?

It seems that HP's server supports this extension - at least, the .o
file that comes in server/ddx/hp has definitions for the missing
procedures - this is no surprise, since the Xclientxr code is
copyrighted by both HP and MIT...

Please reply by e-mail. I'll post a summary.

	Thanks,

In order to be able to use the Client Exerciser tool from the X test suite,
I need to add the Input Synthesis Extension to an MIT X11R4 Sun server.

Does anybody have any hints about putting the code fragments from the file
xtest1.frags in the right places for an MIT X11R4 Sun server ?
