I may be wrong about this (and if so, please tell me), but I don't think that xrn is "rn with X11 support". Instead, it is an X-based newsreader with a misleading name. -- David Elliott dce@sony.com | ...!{uunet,mips}!sonyusa!dce (408)944-4073

Instead, it is an X-based > newsreader with a misleading name. In hindsight, the choice of 'xrn' rather than 'xnr' (for X News Reader) was a bad idea. 'xrn' was not intended to be an X interface for 'rn', it was (and is) an X interface to the NNTP server. The code is all new and many of the features that correspond to 'rn' were added as many of our bilingual users ('xrn' at work, 'rn' at home) demanded more of the 'rn' functionality. Now 'xrn' has KILL files (sort of, better in the next release) and 'rn' keybindings. However, just think of the problems if we had decided to name it 'XNeWS'!
