X Window System Bug Report VERSION: R4 CLIENT MACHINE and OPERATING SYSTEM: Sun Sparcstation 1 running sunos.4.1.1 DISPLAY TYPE: Sun CG3 WINDOW MANAGER: twm AREA: server SYNOPSIS: We are not sure if the problem is the xserver software or whether it is the Framebuffer hardware. Occasionaly, every few days, xserver dies. Typically it is during movement of the mouse from one window to another, but it has happened when the computer is unattended. Also, there is no single program that has been running that would be easily identifiable as the problem. A core file is dumped when the server crashes, a synopsis of the core dump follows: DESCRIPTION: Script started on Tue May 14 16:15:57 1991 cfa270-251: adb /usr/bin/X11/Xsun c* core file = core.may14 -- program ``Xsun'' SIGILL 4: illegal instruction $c _sunCG3CStoreColors() + 0 _miSpriteStoreColors(0xc4b70,0x1,0xf7fff590,0x985b0,0xffffeeee,0xff) + 3c _FindColor(0x1,0xc4bb8,0x100,0x6,0x25b5c,0x3) + 31c _AllocColor(0xf7fff6b0,0xf7fff6ba,0xf7fff6bc,0xf7fff6be,0xf7fff6b0,0x6) + 380 _ProcAllocNamedColor(0xed120,0x30188,0xb6d3c,0xb,0x0,0x1) + c8 _Dispatch(0x1,0x0,0xf7fffa2c,0x1,0x3,0x0) + 18c _main(0xb69a4,0xb69f0,0xb6a0c,0xbbf2c,0x0,0x0) + 4a8 $r g0 0x0 __res_resultcodes l0 0xc3578 _end+0x45c0 g1 0xbec00 _unsock+0x30 l1 0x1 _optarg+0x1 g2 0x8000000 l2 0xc32f8 _end+0x4340 g3 0xffffffff l3 0xf7fff590 g4 0x0 __res_resultcodes l4 0x20 _optarg+0x20 g5 0x0 __res_resultcodes l5 0x0 __res_resultcode s g6 0x0 __res_resultcodes l6 0x6 _optarg+0x6 g7 0x0 __res_resultcodes l7 0xf772005c o0 0xc4b70 _end+0x5bb8 i0 0xc4b70 _end+0x5bb8 o1 0x1 _optarg+0x1 i1 0x1 _optarg+0x1 o2 0xf7fff590 i2 0xf7fff590 o3 0x6740 _sunCG3CStoreColors i3 0x985b0 _miSpriteStoreCo lors o4 0x6740 _sunCG3CStoreColors i4 0xffffeeee o5 0xc0ff0 _end+0x2038 i5 0xff _optarg+0xff sp 0xf7fff4a8 fp 0xf7fff518 o7 0x985ec _miSpriteStoreColors+0x3c i7 0x259e0 _FindColor+0x31c y 0xe0000000 psr 0x400084 pc 0x6740 _sunCG3CStoreColors npc 0x6744 _sunCG3CStoreColors+0x4 _sunCG3CStoreColors: save %sp, -0x370, %sp $q script done on Tue May 14 16:16:53 1991 REPEAT BY: We have not been able to reproduce the error.
