Is this the official release of the Test Suite, or is it the alpha (beta) version that was recently announced as being available for FTP? It is the identical alpha version that was put out for ftp. How much will the Test Suite change with X11R4? How much is gained by starting work with it now, with X11R4 coming "this year-ish"? The test suite won't be included in R4, the distributions (at least for now) will be kept separate. There is, at present, no schedule for when another version of the test suite will be released. What you see is what you want, if you want it.

About a month and a half ago there was a message on the xpert mailing list dealing with the release of the X Test Suite. After a month of thinking it over our management has finally decided that we should have the Test Suite and get it as soon as possible. The message included a number to call for questions. We called the number and still have a few questions we need answered before ordering the Test Suite. 1) How long will it take to receive the tape and documentation after the order is received by MIT? Does MIT wait for the check to clear before shipping and if so would is speed things up to send a cashiers check? 2) How does the wire transfer option work? Do we have to send a letter requesting the Test Suite in addition to the wire transfer? Is this option faster than sending a check? The bottom line is we need to know the fastest way of getting the Test Suite. Can you help me? Thank You

I suspect the only people who can answer your question are the ones at the MIT Software Center (that ain't us engineers) or someone who has previously managed to find the answers from them. Under normal circumstances, I think someone actually answers the phone during normal business hours.

Use anonymous FTP to expo.lcs.mit.edu, or anonymous UUCP to osu-cis.
You'll have it in a couple of hours, depending upon either Internet
load, or how fast your modems are and whether osu-cis has a line free.
