[comp.windows.x] Why are IBM xstations up to 10 times slower than other vendors?

todd@Quotron.COM (Todd Booth) (05/23/91)

I've ran a test on a variety of programs and xfig is about 10 times
slower on an ibm xstation server (fully loaded memory) than a sun
xserver or an ncr xterminal. I did run the window manager (mwm) on
a remote host in all cases.

Any solve this one before? (note that most programs are only 2-5 times
as slow.

What level of AIX 3.? are you running, which model of Xstation with
how much memory and what display? The 3005 AIX 3.1 update includes the
new X11R4 based Xserver for the Xstations which should be quite a bit
faster.
