It is a given that the purpose of net.net-people is "Announcements, requests, etc. about people on the net." And it has been used for "can anyone tell me how to get from here to site XYZ." Okay. But, please use a bit of common sense before posting questions to this group to locate people when you already have all the location information you need! The question you should ask is "would it be more timely and reasonable for me to use the telephone to get this information?" If you have a name and company or institution for an individual, you only need to call that institution, ask for that persons number, and ask the person for his or her e-mail address. Answers via the net will take from days to weeks to filter back. A phone call or two should take care of the problem in under an hour. "Looking for an e-mail address for Prof. Quincy Adams Wagstaff at Huxley College..." Well call them up and ask. "Does Univ of Speonk, Iowa have a system on the network?" Call up said university, ask for the computer center or computer department, and ask (but you'd better ask for a student :-)). -- Fred @ DEC Ultrix Applications Center INET: avolio@decuac.DEC.COM * Fight the Fight * UUCP: {decvax, seismo, cbosgd}!decuac!avolio * Rescue the Unborn *
