Hello everybody! (and thanks in advance to anybody who helps me.) Sun's OpenWindows is installed on a Sun SPARCstation IPC here at St.Olaf and works fine. The problem is that I have tried mounting the necessary directories from my SPARCstation SLC: /usr/openwin and /usr/share/openwin. I have then done an ldconfig on /usr/openwin/lib and usr/lib. Theoretically, this should have been sufficient to get openwindows working on my SLC. (I think) There is one difference between the machine's which is especially notable, and that is : the SLC runs SunOS 4.1 and the IPC runs 4.1.1. When I run the shellscript openwin in /usr/openwin/bin which is supposed to start up X and OpenWindows I get the following error message: Couldn't get base SunWindow giving up /usr/openwin/bin/xinit: connection refused (errno 61 ): unable to connect to X server. Is the problem with the different versions of the operating system? Can the problem be overcome short of upgrading the SLC to version 4.1.1? Any other insights to the problem? All help would be greatly appreciated. ^L ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Aggghhhhhhh..."
