The doc for xless indicates that a Meta-S will open up a search dialog box. The problem is, even though I have a Meta assigned, the application just beeps at me. An X programmer here indicated that it sounded to him as if the application was looking for a specific modifier bit to be set for the Meta key. Is that a standard practice - to access the modifier bit by number rather than by symbol? For instance, we have Meta (L and R) as mod 1, Num Lock as mod 2, Mode switch as mod3 alt as mod5, etc. -- Larry W.
