I have seen the xfontsel program and have found it to be pretty nice. But the output is not very easy for a novice/naive user to deal with. What I would like to find is some way to take the output from this program and return to the user a simple name from the first font alias file found in the font path variable. What I do not know is whether it would be as simple as taking the output selected from xfontsel, writing it to a file, then doing a loop thru the font path variable, fgrep -f /tmp/fontsel.output the appropriate file. Are there any gotchas that I should be aware of ? -- Larry W.
