Does anyone know why our IBM X station 120's often pause during a boot. They read 10-100 packets (tftp download), then hang for 1-3 seconds and resume. This may happen 10 times during a boot. Sometimes there is no problem at all. I suspect the wiring (we're using Synoptics Lattisenet). --todd -- todd (booth) todd@quotron.com 213 302-4368

It also happens occationally on our true Blue token ring running at 16 megabits. Generally we have very little network contention but I suppose it could be a spike in the contention. It could also be the bootp server doing something it thinks is more important. I would bet on this, but I have nothing other than a hunch.
