[comp.windows.x] Interface Builder: UIMX

kapela@prism.poly.edu (Theodore S. Kapela) (06/15/91)

I am looking at interface-builders for motif. I found one distributed
by HP: HP Interface Architect. Note that I said distributed. From
the literature I have seen, it is actually a product called UIMX from
Visual Edge.

My question is this: Does anyone know how to contact this company? I
don't even know if they are in the US. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Also - does anyone know anything about this product? (Where else to find,
etc. . . )

The reason I am asking is HP only sells their own version for HP 9000's
running HPUX 7.0 (Or later. . . .). According to the information I
have, it is also available for Sun's. I wanted to contact this
company directly to try to get information on this version see if I could
get headed into a meaningful direction. (Yes, I am also going to
try to contact Sun Microsystems, so don't suggest that).

Thanx,
	ted

They're not. I happen to know this because we're one of their uucp
neighbors.

If you have a username, user%vedge.uucp@larry.mcrcim.mcgill.edu should
work (...!mcgill-vision!vedge!user for pure-uucp sites).

I don't know anything about UIMX you haven't already said in your
posting; I just know how to reach Visual Edge.

Their entry in the UUCP maps, as of the June 5th 1991 map file, is

Also - does anyone know anything about [UIMX]? (Where else to find,

AT&T Computer Systems Division (not USL, not Bell Labs, ...)
sells it under the name Open Look Express, for Intel 386/486.

Yes and no. HP Interface Architect uses UIM/X as the core of the product.
We add three things:
Ability to generate straight Motif Source (no run additional run
		time libraries)
On-line manuals and Help in VUE's Help system
Full documentation, including a quick start manual.

The generic version of UIM/X for Sun is sold by Quest and Blue Stone.
Visual Edge does not sell direct.
