I'm sure the X terminal/Workstation question has been discussed in this news group before. Could somebody send me a copy of the discussion? The question is: what is the best choice and for what kind of user, an X terminal or a workstation? There seem to be many tradeoffs: X terminals are cheaper, but provide no local compute power. Workstations provide local compute power and protect power users from each other, yet they typically have slower disks than a large server, and there is also an NFS hit when links are done against libs on a central server.
